Looking for Locations around Iowa to Install RTK GPS Sensors and Weather Stations I am currently in search of suitable locations around central Iowa for the installation of an RTK sensor and a weather station.
The ideal location must meet the following criteria: Clear, Unobstructed View of the Sky: This is crucial for the accurate functioning of the RTK sensor and weather station.
Access to Stable WiFi: The devices need a stable internet connection for data transmission.
An RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) sensor is a type of GPS receiver that enhances the precision of position data derived from satellite-based positioning systems.
It achieves this by taking in the normal signals from the Global Navigation Satellite Systems along with a correction stream, providing positional accuracy up to the centimeter level.
Use cases for this data include drones, robotic lawn mowers and self driving cars.
Each unit uses the equivalent power draw of charging a cell phone.
