Description:
Position Purpose:
Performs breast ultrasonography for patients as ordered by the physician and provides diagnostic exams and communications for radiologist’s interpretation.
Performs diagnostic and screening mammographic and bone density procedures.
Assists Radiologist in performing specialty procedures within Mammography.
Performance will be split 50/50 between the two modalities.
Adheres to MercyOne’s performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne.
What you will Do:
Prepares patient, room and equipment for procedure.
Collects history data from patient and provides patient education.
Provides patient cares in accordance with department policy.
Performs ultrasound & mammographic imaging procedures.
Provides radiologist pertinent information for interpretation.
Performs bone density procedure according to skill set.
Performs doppler/color flow diagnostic studies and is able to accurately measure velocities and frequency shifts.
Based on principles of growth and development, provides care appropriate to the age-related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit, which may include:
Birth-28 days: Neonate
1-18 Months: Infant
18 Mo-3 Yrs: Toddler
3-6 Yrs: Pre-School Aged
6-12 Yrs: School-Aged
12-18 Yrs: Adolescents
18-65 Yrs: Adults
65+ Yrs: Geriatrics
Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures.
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
Hours/Schedule:
32 Hours per week
Minimum Qualifications: Graduate of a two year accredited program in Radiography.
Mammographic certification in addition to Breast ultrasound experience highly preferred.
Must have valid Iowa permit to practice.
ARRT certification in Radiography and ARRT certification in Mammography.
Must have completed the required 40 hour mammography training + 8 hours tomo training (as required by IDPH) prior to employment Ultrasound Certification through ARDMS or ARRT within two years of completion of MTMI Breast Sonography course or equivalent.
BLS.
Mandatory Reporter.
High language, high math, high reasoning ability.
