Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: Provides assistance to the Radiation Therapist with normal daily treatment and simulation procedures.
As part of the training program, the intern will obtain the knowledge and expertise to perform and be responsible for simulation, initial treatment set-up, daily radiation treatments, documentation, and quality assurance.
Adheres to MercyOne’s performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne.
What you will Do: Under the supervision of a Radiation Therapist, performs CT/Simulation of patients who will receive radiation therapy including immobilization, image acquisition, and documentation of planning parameters.
Under the supervision of a Radiation Therapists, assists in the delivery of radiation therapy treatments in accordance with the physicians’ written directive and the radiation treatment plan, including treatment plan review, image acquisition and evaluation, and proper documentation of treatment.
Under the supervision of a Radiation Therapist, assists in performing daily equipment warmup, quality assurance monitoring, and machine maintenance.
Coordinates care of patients receiving radiation therapy including communication with radiation oncology nursing and providers, adjunctive treatments such as chemotherapy, ancillary services, and transportation.
Participate in radiation oncology team meetings.
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
Hours/Schedule: 80 hours biweekly (1.
0 FTE) Minimum Qualifications: Current ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology or registry eligible with certification within 6 months of hire.
Current State of Iowa Permit to Practice in Radiologic Technology or eligible with permit within 6 months of hire.
Enrolled in or accepted into an accredited Radiation Therapy training program.
2 years of experience in Radiologic Technology preferred.
Will consider a new graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Basic Life Support Mandatory Reporter Training Must possess good communication skills.
Must possess the sensitivity and understanding needed to work with cancer patients.
Must possess the ability to work under pressure due to fluctuating workloads.
Intermediate language, intermediate math, high reasoning ability.
Personal computer.
Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
