00 per hour shift premium Job Objective To set up and operate a die cast machine, trim press and related equipment in the timely production of parts consistent with established quality standards and plant schedules.
Duties and Responsibilities 1.
Review work schedule to make sure of what jobs are to be started or completed.
2.
Sets up machine and checks mold, air, water, & hot oil lines, shot pressure, and other adjustments to minimize safety hazards and help achieve highest level of quality production possible.
3.
Test run the first few pieces for quality check and make adjustments as required to achieve full production capacity as quickly as possible.
4.
Monitors quality of parts regularly to minimize time consuming sorting, waste and/or remelt.
5.
Monitors production rates to see that they meet established standards.
6.
Notifies lead person of recurring problems promptly.
7.
Provides information to maintenance and the tool room to assist in diagnosing equipment or tooling problems.
8.
Keeps accurate time and job records.
9.
Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition using 5S principles to minimize safety hazards and lost time accidents.
10.
Follows established safety procedures and policies at all times.
11.
Maintains a good attendance record.
12.
Performs other duties as assigned.
13.
This position supports the continual improvement and compliance of QMS and EMS.
14.
Responsible to perform his or her job functions in a manner that supports TriMark's mission, vision and values in order for the company to attain its strategic and growth goals.
Skills, Abilities and Experience Required Skill to set up and operate die cast machines, trim presses and related equipment which can be learned on the job.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions or special instructions related to changes in procedures for die cast.
Ability to work cooperatively with other employees and give assistance to new personnel.
Ability to interpret manufacturing documents, including but not limited to blueprints, process sheets, daily job cards, operating/special instructions, etc.
in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to stay positive with a good attitude and values Trimark’s Core Values.
Judgment Required To perform basic machine setup and adjustments as required.
To operate a forklift and other machinery in a safe manner.
To determine, the overall quality of finished die cast products.
To provide assistance to new personnel as requested.
Core Competencies • Set Up & Machine Programming • Set Up and program production equipment with good manufacturing practices and operating procedures • Performing shutdown and startup procedures on department specific equipment • Departmental paperwork • Ensure all job information is loaded into JDE correctly • Ensure all reports such as scrap and uptime/downtime are filled out correctly • Ensure shift report is completed • Ensure that everyone is following work instructions • Troubleshooting • Determine causes or operating errors and finding a solution on how to address • Determine root cause of quality issues & determining solutions or steps to fix • Determine safety issues as well as safety improvements • Instructing • Teach others how to perform or do something so they understand • Ensure that everyone is following safety rules such as PPE • Ensure that everyone knows where they need to be and what they are supposed to be doing • Communication • Convey information to others effectively.
• Understanding blueprints and measuring gages • Need to understand how to read blueprints and determine good or bad • Need to understand how to use correct measuring tools to gage parts such as calipers, gage pins, or any other specialty gages needed to ensure part quality • Quality Standards Working Conditions Must be available to work overtime and weekends as required, to meet the company’s business demands.
Continual exposure to hazards of machine operation and molten zinc.
Some contact with oils, lubricants and coolant necessary for the operation of the die cast machines.
The work area is damp and the temperature is above normal.
The noise level exceeds 95db.
Uniform safety practices consist of pull on safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other devices as required.
This area requires normal or corrected vision, normal depth perception and peripheral vision of 180 degrees, and no color deficiency.
