*SUMMARY * Drafts detailed drawings of parts of machines or structures from rough or general design drawings and reviews production shop orders and parts for most optimum nest to produce production parts by performing the following duties.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* Include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, sheet metal materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
Shows dimensions, material to be used, and other information necessary to make detailed drawing clear and complete.
Updates drawing files as required after any necessary changes are made.
Maintains PDF drawing files for use with production shop orders.
Does required maintenance between SolidWorks files and nesting files as necessary.
Works closely with laser operator to use drop-off as required and work to create standard nests that can be run after hours.
Track and report on scrap rates weekly.
Review laser nests and look out into the future to minimize scrap rate.
Reviews project instructions such as assembly, layout, production drawings and sketches, and confers with engineering personnel to clarify laser device specifications.
Interprets production details such as dimensions and functional requirements, for workers engaged in machining metal parts.
Acquires knowledge and keeps up with training as required of laser operator so that any upgrades or new processes are understood and used when nesting parts for production.
Works directly with outside laser customers to verify PO's and customer requirements.
Reviews production shop orders on a daily basis to create nests that are most beneficial to keep laser production timely and produce the least amount of scrap.
Reviews shop orders and routings for corrections or changes to produce the best production practices for all production parts and correct routings if necessary to achieve this goal.
Reviews laser nests on a daily basis to get parts through the system on a timely and need date basis by using factory workstation to find and verify need dates.
Prepares and writes technical reports to recommend solutions to technical problems.
Reviews shop orders and procedural manuals to determine critical dimensions of design.
Calculates figures to convert design dimensions to resizing dimensions specified for subsequent production processes.
Makes any necessary adjustments or changes to bills of materials, routings or drawings.

*EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE* Associate degree (A.
A.
) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school plus two to five years of related experience.
*LANGUAGE SKILLS* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
*MATHEMATICAL SKILLS* Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
*REASONING ABILITY* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
